Terraces and stone cottages

Most of our work is on Victorian terraces and stone cottages, the older houses found all through Halifax and the Calder Valley.

Roofs like these are laid in courses, each row of slate or stone lapping the one below so rain runs off rather than in. When something gives, it is often small: a slipped slate, a cracked stone, a blocked gutter. Sometimes the whole roof has simply had its day.

Re-roof or repair?

It is not always obvious whether a roof needs patching or replacing. A slipped slate or two is usually a repair.

Slates going in several places, damp in the loft after every downpour, or repairs that keep coming back can all mean it is time to think about a re-roof. If you are not sure which yours needs, get in touch and describe what you are seeing.

Halifax and the Calder Valley

Calder Ridge Roofing covers Halifax and the Calder Valley, where rows of terraces step down the hillsides and stone cottages sit out in the weather.
